Gregory S. Lisi
Gregory S. Lisi is head of Forchelli Deegan Terrana LLP’s Employment & Labor practice group. He concentrates in labor and employment law, sexual harassment and discrimination law, overtime and wage and hour law, labor relations, management/union arbitration, business immigration and naturalization law labor relations, corporate law, human resources, commercial transaction law, and all aspects of commercial litigation. He has represented defendants, plaintiffs, publicly traded and private companies, trade groups and associations, the United States Government, and New York State government and municipal entities.
Mr. Lisi is the past President of the Nassau County Bar Association, where he is currently a member of the Board of Directors, is a part Chair of the Labor & Employment Law Committee and is a member of the Commercial Litigation and Federal Courts Committees, among others.
Mr. Lisi was a contributing author to the treatise Sex Discrimination and Sexual Harassment in the Work Place by Solotoff and Kramer published by Law Journal Press. He also authored a note published in the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal entitled, Intracircuit Nonacquiescence by the INS, 5 G.I.L.J. 325 (1991). Further, Mr. Lisi has lectured and written extensively on Labor and Employment, Sexual Harassment, Discrimination, Wage and Hour, Equal Employment Law, Labor Relations, Immigration, and Federal Litigation topics.
Mr. Lisi is a former Regional Counsel of the United States Customs Service, where he defended the United States Government before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, as well as in labor/union matters. He has practiced before the Federal Courts including the United States Supreme Court, the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals and D.C. Circuits, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, New York State and Nassau County Divisions of Human Rights, the New York City Commission on Human Rights, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the National Labor Relations Board, the National Mediation Board, labor and corporate arbitrations and mediations, and the Courts of New York City, Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester Counties.
Among the professional honors Mr. Lisi has received are: New York Metro Super Lawyers (Employment & Labor) annually since 2012; recognized annually since 2021 in The Best Lawyers in America® (Litigation – Labor & Employment Law); Long Island’s Top Legal Eagle; WHO’s WHO in Labor Law; Martindale-Hubbell Client Distinction Award; Pro Bono Attorney of the Year; Access to Justice Champion; Pro Bono Attorney of the Month, and the Nassau County Bar Association’s Distinguished Professional Achievement in Labor & Employment Law.
Howard M. Stein
Howard M. Stein is the Managing Partner at Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP, and he Co-Chairs the Real Estate Practice Group. His diverse roster of clients count on his counsel in matters relating to real property acquisitions, downtown redevelopments, sales, leasing (including obtaining economic benefits incentives), real estate finance and loan workouts. For closely held businesses and public companies, he structures complicated transactions for retail, industrial, office, hotel, wineries and residential developments. He is also actively involved in all legal facets of Assisted Living Communities and Senior Condominium Living.
Mr. Stein represented the land seller of the Melville “pumpkin farm” to Canon USA for its North American Headquarters, which kept the Fortune 500 Company on Long Island. He has also represented Master Developers in Ronkonkoma, Patchogue, Lindenhurst, The Village of Hempstead and the City of New Rochelle, among others. Recently he represented the developer of a 400+ unit project in Bay Shore and a multinational company in the acquisition of a 200+ acre winery on the East End of Long Island.
At Touro Law Center, Mr. Stein taught courses in Real Estate Law, serves on its Board of Governors and was the Chairman from 2005 until 2022. In 2011, he was inducted into the Inaugural Class of Touro Law Center Builder’s Society.
Mr. Stein was appointed by the Suffolk County Executive to serve on the Board of Directors of the Suffolk Judicial Facilities Agency. He is also a member of the Advisory Board for Long Island MacArthur Airport.
He is on the Board for the Association for a Better Long Island, an advocacy group for the real estate development community. Also an advocate of Smart Growth, Mr. Stein serves as a board member of Vision Long Island.
He is an Associate Member of the Commercial Industrial Brokers Society of Long Island (“CIBS”), and was named “Associate Member of the Year” in 2013.
Named to the PowerList in 2022, 2023, & 2024 by the Long Island Press and one of the Power 25 in the Law in 2022 by Long Island Business News, he was also honored with a Real Estate Award for “Top Office Lease” on behalf of 90 Merrick Avenue in 2022 and the Hain Celestial Group in 2013. Long Island Business News has counted him among its “Who’s Who in Real Estate Law,” and he often weighs in on articles relating to the real estate industry and current updates. He has also been recognized with its “50 Around 50” Award for his professional achievement and community service. And in 2020, on behalf of the law firm, he received recognition for his representation of a real estate developer of a condominium project built in Suffolk County.
From 2012 consecutively until 2024, he was named to the New York Metro Super Lawyers list.
He actively champions for charitable causes. Mr. Stein is a member of the President’s Council of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island, and was honored with its Presidential Award. Long Island Cares bestowed upon him The Harry Chapin Humanitarian Award. The American Heart Association honored him at its Go Red for Women Luncheon.
Mr. Stein earned his law degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1978, and his undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester in 1975 where he once pitched back-to-back four-hit shutouts in a double-header over Hobart College. This feat appeared in Sports Illustrated.
Admitted to practice in the State of New York and the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York, he is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association. He achieved the highest rating by Martindale Hubbell.
Hon. Stacy D. Bennett
The Honorable Justice Stacy D. Bennett has served the judiciary with distinction since her election to the Family Court bench in November 2006. From 2007 through 2011, she adjudicated matters in the Nassau County Family Court, presiding over a wide array of cases including custody and visitation, family offenses, domestic violence, juvenile delinquency, abuse and neglect proceedings, and guardianship matters.
In 2011, Judge Bennett was appointed as an Acting Justice of the Supreme Court. She was subsequently elected to the New York State Supreme Court in 2022, where she currently serves in the Nassau County Supreme Court, Matrimonial Center. In this capacity, she presides over matrimonial actions, bringing to the bench extensive experience and a deep commitment to judicial fairness and integrity.
Prior to her judicial career, Judge Bennett was a partner at the law firm of Jaspan Schlesinger LLP, where her practice concentrated in the areas of matrimonial and family law. Her professional background in private practice provided a strong foundation for her work on the bench.
Judge Bennett is admitted to practice law in the States of New York and Connecticut, as well as before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. She earned her Juris Doctor from Ohio Northern University College of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Boston University.
In addition to her judicial duties, Judge Bennett has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to legal education and public service. In 2007, she was appointed by the New York State Administrative Judge to serve on the New York State Family Court Advisory and Rules Committee. Since 2009, she has served as a volunteer lecturer for the Parent Education and Custody Effectiveness (PEACE) Program at the Nassau County Supreme Court and frequently lectures for the New York State Bar Association. She also volunteers as a coach and judge for the New York State Mock Trial Program, mentoring the next generation of legal professionals. Judge Bennett is an active member of the Nassau County Bar Association, the We Care Advisory Board, and the Women’s Bar Association.
